Ermitage International School has been a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (UNESCO ASPnet) for several years. As an affiliated school, we contribute to UNESCO's mission by teaching and integrating the organisations’ values and objectives into our' programs. Every year, IB and Collège teachers and students have the opportunity to organise or participate in a number of activities linked to the UNESCO agenda.
Moreover, being a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network means belonging to a worldwide community of schools that share similar values. It also gives us access to learning resources, and soon, to collaborations with other member schools to share knowledge and experience and develop joint projects.
Looking back on the 2023/2024 school year, here are the events and workshops Ermitage organised as part of the UNESCO ASPnet:
In November 2023, DP1 students took part in the UNESCO ASPnet Campus Webinar on the topic "Acting for Peace".
In January and February 2024, some IB teachers and students took part in the ASPnet Survey on Climate Change Education.
Still in February 2024, on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, MYP4s and DP1s took part in round tables on specific topics: "Fostering Girls' Interest in Sciences Through Innovative Education in Digital Age" for MYP4s, and "Inspiring Women and Girls in Sciences Through Role Models and Mentors" for DP1s.
In March 2024, MYP5 students celebrated World Poetry Day in their English class.
Finally, in April 2024, MYP5 students took part in the global masterclass, transcribed in three languages (English, French and Spanish), on the general theme "Against racism and discrimination", and more specifically around the topic "Youth, agents of change in the fight against racism and discrimination".
The results of this school year's activities around the UNESCO project are very positive, and we hope to take part in many more events next year.
